How You Can Help

We cannot operate without volunteers who are committed to the varied work needed to keep our organization running. If you would like to be a volunteer, please send us an email at

Companion Cats needs volunteers for the following:

• Open your home and foster a cat(s)
• Help clean and feed the areas provided for our shelter cats (scoop, fill bowls and pet a lonely kitty)
• Help set-up or tear down at adoption events
• Transport animals to/from adoption events
• Counsel potential adopters
• Take photos and/or videos for our Petfinder postings or Newsletters (they really help get each cat noticed)
• Take time to observe our cats and keep up-to-date information about their personalities, likes, dislikes, etc.
• Write those heart-touching bios for the cats listed on
• Plan fundraising events
• Coordinate our volunteer program
• Plan marketing/advertising campaigns to find homes for our foster cats
• Write grant proposals (we have someone to guide you through the process)

How your donation can help Companion Cats

• Cat food, kitten food both hard and soft, plus kitten replacement milk
• Scoopable cat litter
• Cleaning supplies: bleach, paper towels, laundry soap, etc.
• Monitory gifts for medical care such as spaying/neutering, vaccinations and preventitve medical care

Even if you cannot foster a rescue cat, you can still help . . .

Where do donations go? Donations give us the opportunity to purchase the medical supplies required to spay/neuter and vaccinate more rescue cats and kittens. Stopping overpopulation is the key to ending the suffering of abandon homeless pets. (Donations are tax deductible in the state of Michigan.)

Oscar, a special needs cat, was adopted by his foster parents. They believe he is very special in so many ways.
